Why Labour Friends of Technology & Manufacturing?

The UK Manufacturing sector:

employs 2.6 million people
contributes 10% of GVA
accounts for 44% of total exports
represents 69% of business research and development (R&D)
provides 15% of business investment

From the 1970's to present, Manufacturing has fallen from 25% to 11% as a % of GDP. We need to re-balance the UK economy to reduce inequality and regional disparities.

What we do

We campaign to influence decision makers in the Labour party and wider government to adopt Labour Friends of Technology & Manufacturing’s (LFTM) strategies.

By working closely with employers, universities, trade unions and individual we develop workable policies for Labour to embrace.
